VIRTUAL BOOK TOURS
Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 Oct 28th, 2009 leave a response

Once I became a published, it didn’t take long for me to jump on the band wagon of virtual book touring. This marketing venue allows me to visit several blogs over a period of time, do guest posts, interviews, podcasts and radio interviews all from the comfort of my home.

The benefits of virtual book touring are immeasurable. The ability to reach thousands of potential readers, archive the content of the tour as well as allow it to become viral is well worth the time and effort I put into it. Plus, I save thousands of dollars from my promotion budget, too.

With that said, you might wonder if there’s anything authors need to do, especially if the tour is being hosted by someone else. Absolutely! There are several things an author will be involved with will on the tour like:
• Provide an excerpt from their book
• Conduct interviews
• Request a blogger reviews
• Serve as a guest blogger
• Participate in a chat
• Post to forums
• Write articles
• Syndicate articles
• Produce podcasts
• Do radio interviews
• Provide giveaways for contests

Of course, authors should post a recap after the tour and say thanks to the host sites.

Recently, I participated in The Endless Love Virtual Book Tour, and exclusive fourteen-day virtual book tour, which celebrated love and romance and reaffirmed the power of love.

The fourteen-day tour was hosted by Renee Williams, a self-proclaimed hopeful romantic at A Hopeful Romantic and featured many of today’s top romance authors like: Lori Foster, Dianne Castell, Adrianne Byrd, Celeste O. Norfleet, A. C. Arthur, Brenda Jackson, Jules Bennett, Joanne Rock, Lori Wilde, Maureen Smith, Beverly Jenkins, Evelyn Palfrey and Holly Jacobs.

Take a moment to see stop by and read my post on How We Met.

Here’s my public thanks to Renee and all my author friends for making this virtual tour a memorable one.

Until next time – stay well and be blessed!

  1. LaConnie, thanks so much for writing about the benefits of Virtual Book Tours, but more importantly writing about what is required from authors who do them. A well planned and organized Virtual Tour can bring a great deal of exposure and traffic an authors way! I’ve witnessed a lot of virtual book tours –good ones and bad ones — over the years. I believe the tours that sadden me the most are the ones where the feature authors never bother to personally get involved with their tour . . . nor show up to network with the host blogger and readers — ARGH!!!

    Great post indeed!
