A Tribute to the Founders of Delta Sigma Theta

Delta Sigma Theta

Yesterday, I wrote a post on virtual book touring. Although my message was targeted to authors, little did I realize then, but the scope of virtual book touring is not limited to the rank and file in the literary world. The Renaissance Women Virtual Tour begins tomorrow!!

Here’s some background information: I’m a proud and active member of the Contra Costa Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. On January 30, 2010, the 22nd National President of Delta Sigma Theta, Gwendolyn Boyd will be the keynote speaker for the Northern California Founders Day Celebration, an annual event honoring our twenty-two founders. As the coordinators of this event mulled over ways to promote the theme: “Renaissance Women 1913-2010: A Sisterhood Called to Serve” to the masses, they realized several members of the sorority were published authors and familiar with the concepts of social marketing and virtual touring. Hence, the platform for a virtual tour was birthed. Needless to say, I’m honored and excited to serve as the host for The Renaissance Women Virtual Tour.

What the heck is The Renaissance Women Virtual Tour? Thanks for asking.

The Renaissance Women Virtual Tour, an exclusive twenty-two day virtual book tour, pays tribute to the Founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and takes place October 30th thru November 20th featuring Gwendolyn E. Boyd and top-selling authors: Wendy Coakley-Thompson, Darrylyn Swift, Arnitria Shaw, Veraunda Jackson, Patricia Haley-Glass, June Michael, Annetra Piper, Tracie Jae, Stephanie Worth, J.A. Adams, Gwyneth Bolton and Meme Kelly. I’ll join these talented authors as we reflect on the artistic and intellectual efforts, which members of Delta Sigma Theta as well as other women from all walks of life have enjoyed due to the artistic and intellectual efforts of our Founders passed along almost 97 years ago.

Log in daily and follow the tour where a Founder will be spotlighted, followed by author blog post and information about Delta Sigma Theta. This will be a fun, informational and inspirational tour and is not limited to members of Delta Sigma Theta. So, pass the word along to others!

Aaah, isn’t it great to discover a new way of doing things?

I look forward to seeing you all beginning Friday, October 30th!!

Until next time, stay well and be blessed. . .
