My sister is a chemical engineer and I remember her eschewing reading in college for that exact reason! But I remember having a similar kind of epiphany before making the switch from playwriting to novel writing. I was reading a book, and I was so frustrated that I was like, "Well, obviously I'm going to have to write the kind of book I want to read, b/c no one else seems to be doing it for me." That was November 2005, and now the books coming out in June 2010. M/b 4 to 5 years is the magic number with first novels. Anywho, looking forward to reading your next book!
